AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2021-22 AND FISCAL YEAR 2022-23
CAPITAL BUDGETS FOR THE PLAYGROUND REPLACEMENT
PROJECT (C5200) BY INCREASING EXPENDITURE ALLOCATION
BY $250,000 FOR FISCAL YEAR 2021 -22 AND DECREASING
EXPENDITURE ALLOCATION BY $250,000 FOR FISCAL YEAR 2022- 23 WHEREAS, on June 15, 2021, the City Council di d adopt a budget representing the financial plan for conducting the affairs of the City of Alameda for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 2021 and ending June 30, 2023; and
WHEREAS, on December 13, 2021, a large oak tree fell in Lincoln Park and significantly damaged the playground for 5 to 12-year-old children. The entire playground requires replacement; and
WHEREAS, the adopted budget included an allocation of $250,000 in FY 2022-23 to replace the Lincoln Park playground as part of the Annual Playground Replacement Plan and this funding is proposed to be appropriated to the current fiscal year 2021-22 to expedite the playground replacement; and
WHEREAS, staff is proposing that the budget for Capital Improvement Project C5200 (Playground Replacement) be increased by $ 250,000 for FY 2021-22 and the budget for Capital Improvement Project C5200 (Playground Replacement) be decreased by $250,000 for FY 2022-23; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the report and recommendations of the City Manager on the budget amendments and has determined that the budget amendments are both fair and appropriate; and
WHEREAS, this budget ensures that the City of Alameda has exercised prudent judgment in its fiduciary responsibility as guardian of the public tax dollars.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that the budget amendment to the City’s Capital Improvement Project C5200 (Playground Replacement), to increase the expenditure allocation by $2 50,000 for FY 2021-22 and decrease the expenditure allocation by $250,000 for FY 2022-23, is approved.
