SB 9 became effective on January 1, 2022
On January 4, 2022, City Council reviewed first draft local ordinance establishing local standards to
implement new state law
As of February 15, 2022, no SB 9 applications received. New Draft Ordinance:
Total number of units reduced to four (4)
Maximum size of unit is reduced from 1,600 to 1,200
square feet.
Recommendation
Approve first reading of Ordinance
Staff to provide update on implementation in fall 2022 as part of Housing Element public hearings and zoning
amendments. Opportunity to adjust if necessary.
