Dear Mayor and Members of City Council,
I am pleased to write this letter of support for the proposed rezoning of NP-MM, North Park Street Maritime Manufacturing District as a location where Cannibis Industry Manufacturing is conditionally permitted and includes the property at 2421 Everett Street. This property is directly next door to my work/live residence on Blanding Avenue and will bring much needed renovations and vitality to the area that has been sitting vacant for extended periods of time since the departure(s) of Allied Engineering followed by Concreteworks. I believe that Kiva Confections will be responsive neighbors with regard to the concerns of nearby residents and surrounding businesses, in addition to providing much-needed upgrades to the site. I look forward to seeing this industrial neighborhood continue to flourish.
Sincerely,
Tina Blaine

As a business for over 40 years and property owner in the 1900 block of Everett Street, I would like to voice my concerns over amending the code to include the cannabis industry.
What will be required and done to control the smell/odor of the facility. I personally enjoy the smell, but not on a constant basis. We also live here in Alameda and on several days throughout the year we already get a strong odor from the Green Zone in Oakland near the High Street I-880 Intersection.
Also what will be done as far as security. The Cannabis grow areas are also a draw for thieves to break in and steal plants and product. We don't need that type of traffic in our town or neighborhood.
Thank You,
Emo Schuitema

My wife and I own the property at 2526 Blanding Ave in Alameda. I feel that a cannabis retailer will detract from the attractiveness of our Maritime Manufacturing District. The proposed site is immediately adjacent to Rhythmix Cultural Works which offers many programs for youth cultural development. From listening to the news, cannabis businesses in Oakland feel they are not getting the police protection they deserve. If these businesses need police protection, they cannot contribute in any attractive way to our neighborhood.
We are opposed to allowing any cannabis businesses in this area.
Thank you
