Final Recreation & Park
Commission Name
Recommendation
Svendsen Maritime Park
OR
Riveter’s Waterfront Park
Two Names Recommended by the Recreation
and Parks Commission
 The Recreation and Parks Commission recommended two names for this park for City Council consideration

1. Svendsen Maritime Park
This name was not in the top 10 names considered by the Commission. At the final public meeting, the Svendsen family requested the Commission consider the name to honor Svend Svendsen’s contributions to the Alameda and maritime communities.

Further historical and background research is required to vet the Svendsen name. Alternately, permanent educational signage could be installed at the park to honor the life and legacy of Mr. Svendsen.

2. Riveter’s Waterfront Park
