Dear Transportation Commission--
I'm writing to convey my dismay at the route for the proposed bus line (DA6) that will replace the 51A. I'm unclear what is 'equitable' about eliminating the only bus from Alameda that goes up the Broadway corridor to Kaiser Hospital. Many elderly Alamedans, and those with limited mobility, plus people who don't drive/have access to private transportation depend on the 51A to get them to Kaiser for medical appointments. With the new route, they'd have to get off the bus in downtown Oakland & transfer to the new DA51, bearing an additional cost in time and money and potentially safety as well.
Alameda is already underserved by AC Transit. It was so disappointing when the 78 Seaplane Ferry was cancelled, but with the pilot period starting during the pandemic, and the timing issues of the bus meeting the ferry, it almost felt like it was set up to fail. Yes, we need to get people out of cars but making transit options defunct/onerous is not going to get us there.
Sincerely,
Kristen Hanlon

AC Transit:
I am disappointed to learn in the email below that AC transit is considering dropping the airport stop on the AC Transit Bus Line 20
I use the bus to travel to the airport, There are no other public transportation options for me to get to the airport
I respectfully request that AC transit reconsider this change and continue to offer public transportation to the Oakland airport from and to Alameda.
Thanks
Carrie
