Dear Mayor and City Council Members,
Regarding the Life Sciences as a major economic "play" for Alameda:

City staff may not care that primates are used for research in Alameda- nor dogs and cats.

However, may I/we remind you that the residents of Alameda are partiular about the kind of Life Sciences companies the City brings here. A majority of us do not want research on those kinds of animals in particular. In the recent past you received a multitude of emails from Alameda residents stating their concerns and opposition to this type of research.

Therefore, my suggestion is the City's Life Sciences policy be reframed to say that although the Life Sciences are encouraged to come here, the..." City particularly encourages those LS firms that either do not do animal testing and or no testing on primates, dogs and cats."
That sort of phrasing would be helpful in that it would include the views and sentiments and values of the community that elected you as our representatives.

Thank you for your consideration.

Reyla Graber
