APPROPRIATING $2,000,000 FROM THE ALAMEDA POINT FUND
(FUND 290) AVAILABLE FUND BALANCE TO ALAMEDA CAPITAL
PROJECT FUND (FUND 301) PROJECT #C75400, ALAMEDA POINT
FISCAL YEAR 2024-25 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT BUDGET
WHEREAS, on June 18, 2024, the City Council did adopt a budget representing the financial plan for conducting the affairs of the City of Alameda for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 2024 and ending June 30,2025; and
WHEREAS, on September 27, 2024, the City’s Chief Building Official posted a Declaration of Unsafe Building and Notice to Vacate the building located at 2450 Saratoga Street, also known as Building 114, as well as an Investigation Inspection Report requiring the City to obtain permits to demolish the portions of the building compromised beyond repair within 60 days; and
WHEREAS, a licensed structural engineer has further determined most of Building 114 is compromised beyond repair; and
WHEREAS, City staff have entered into an emergency Construction Agreement with Silverado Construction, Inc. for the demolition and abatement work needed to comply with the Chief Building Official’s Investigation Inspection Report; and
WHEREAS, the Council has considered the report and recommendations of the City Manager on the budget amendments and has determined that the budget amendments are both fair and appropriate; and
WHEREAS, this budget ensures that the City of Alameda has exercised prudent judgment in its fiduciary responsibility as guardian of the public tax dollars.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda amends the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Alameda Point Operating and Capital Budgets appropriating $2,000,000 from Alameda Point Fund (Fund 290) available fund balance to Alameda Point Capital Project Fund (Fund 301) Project C754000.
