RE: ITEM 5N on 12/3/24 Council Agenda
Honorable members of the City Council of Alameda,
I am concerned by the absence of a specific statement as to the effect that the revision of the MOU might have on the amount of money that will flow from Alameda into the Fire Chiefs’ re�rement accounts.
I note that the City’s Financial Director has indicated that: ”This action has no financial impact, as the Letter of Understanding solely clarifies existing language regarding the current calculation and payment of the special pays in question.”
I note also that the necessity for the clarifica�on stemmed from the fact that CALPERS’ calcula�ons apparently differed from those of the City, or something along these lines.
And since these differences will affect how much money the City will be sending to CALPERS, it would seem to me that there will be a financial effect.
I am not challenging that a revision of the MOU might be necessary. I am only asking for clarifica�on regarding the poten�al for a change in the amount of funds to be transferred.
