Hello,
I would like to submit public comment for the 2/4/2025 City Council meeting, Closed Session Item Number 3B, Potential Litigation with the Port of Oakland. My comments are below, but please let me know if I need to go through a different process to officially submit them.
As an Alameda resident for over 20 years, and one with school-age children, I am deeply concerned about the Port of Oakland's proposed airport expansion and inadequate consideration of community and climate impacts. The expansion plan as outlined in the FEIR and approved by the Port Commission would have serious and lasting negative implications. It prioritizes airport prosperity above public health, the environment, and the economic stability of nearby residential communities, all of which is alarming and disappointing.
I provided comment articulating my family's strong opposition to this plan at a City Council meeting last year as well as via the EIR public comment process. I would like to reiterate my opposition and urge the City of Alameda to do everything in its power to prevent the Port of Oakland's airport expansion plan from being realized.
