[EXTERNAL] please submit regarding the Dignity Village Therapist contract extension Tuesday, March 18, 2025 12:56:42 PM
To the Mayor and the City Council,
Thank you very much for your ongoing support of the Alameda Family Services' Mental Health Therapist Position at Dignity Village. This position has allowed for the support of all Dignity Village residents transitioning out of homelessness, as they are awaiting their match to permanent housing. The therapist provides active milieu support, individual therapy, case consultation and case conferencing with Dignity Village staff, and de-escalation support as needed, to name some of
the many benefits to the community at Dignity Village.

By supporting residents with mental health and substance use disorders, the therapist plays an active and vital role in the residents having a successful and productive stay, preventing residents from reentering homelessness. Many residents rely on the therapist to maintain their mental health stabilization, with her support, sessions, and interventions.

Please support the continuation of this funding to allow the therapist to continue supporting residents and staff. I thank you for your consideration and support.

Best regards,
Karen Zeltzer
