…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… October 7, 2025 Mayor Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft Vice Mayor Michele Pryor Councilmember Greg Boller Councilmember Tony Daysog Councilmember Tracy Jensen RE: Agenda Item 10-A Consider Adoption of Resolution Supporting the Polluters Pay Climate Action Superfund Act of 2025 Dear Members of the City Council: Community Action for a Sustainable Alameda (CASA) is a community-wide coalition dedicated to raising awareness, mobilizing community action, and facilitating the implementation of the City’s Climate Action and Resiliency Plan and more generally to increase community sustainability and well-being. We encourage the Adoption of the Resolution Supporting the Polluters Pay Climate Action Superfund Act of 2025. The Climate Crisis is here and Alameda is already experiencing the effects of climate change and sea level rise. The fossil fuel industry has directly contributed to these impacts and must pay its fair share of the damage. Our community is affected by their pollution and they should pay for it. We strongly support the work of the Youth Power Climate Action Network in their advocacy. They are raising crucial public awareness about the problems and potential mitigations of fossil fuel pollution. We appreciate that the City has written a letter of support for SB 684 (Menjivar) and believe that a Council Resolution will further demonstrate the City’s support. Sincerely, Ruth Abbe, Steering Committee Community Action for a Sustainable Alameda

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Support for Polluters Pay Resolution Date: Monday, October 6, 2025 11:17:32 AM
Dear City Council and Staff:
Please accept this email in support of passing the resolution in support of the State Polluters Pay bill. As a public health scientist, I know that climate change poses a critical threat to Alamedans and the public worldwide. This bill would require the polluters to pay part of the cost to public health from climate change, through their reckless promotion of fossil fuel use .
Thank you for your consideration,

Hello. I am writing in support of Item 10A, Make Polluters Pay. Fossil fuel use is ruining our planet. Especially with the current federal administration green energy cuts, it is so important for us to do what we can at the local level to discourage use of fossil fuels and make them pay from their profits with money going to green energy projects. Thanks very much, Rev. Dr.
