26 playgrounds, 19 Sports Fields
300 acres of park land
10 miles of pathways and trails
Recreation and Parks
Key Needs
Alameda’s park system is facing mounting
infrastructure challenges:
• Many of the City’s 35 parks and 27
recreation centers, across 300 acres, are
operating beyond their intended lifespans
• This includes aging infrastructure, outdated
irrigation systems, and significant deferred
maintenance needs
• Investing in our parks now will ensure they
continue to serve as safe, accessible, and
enjoyable community spaces
Recreation and Parks
Key Needs
To preserve these vital assets for future
generations and ensure City parks support
the health and well-being of the entire
community, we must invest in:
• Infrastructure renewal and
modernization
• Comprehensive repairs
• Energy-efficient upgrades
• Resilient design
