Subject: [EXTERNAL] Vote YES on Item 10-A -- ICE-free Alameda Date: Tuesday, April 7, 2026 12:58:47 AM
Dear Councilmembers
Please join Oakland and Alameda County in creating ICE-free zones. Yes on 10-A.

Our family has lived in Alameda for more than 30 years. My daughter was born at Alameda Hospital and graduated from ACLC. I'm a member of Lawyers for Good Government and All Rise California.

My pro bono work is to help vetted war refugees apply for asylum. They are attending community college and learning English. But they are no longer safe because ICE is terrorizing and kidnapping people.

Please vote for 10-A, directing City Staff to analyze establishing ICE-free zones. My thanks to Councilman Tony Daysog for requesting the Council consider this issue.

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Please vote YES on 10A for ICE-free zones Date: Monday, April 6, 2026 2:37:10 PM
Dear City Council,
I am a resident and parent in Alameda, and am writing to urge you to vote YES on agenda item 10-A, following in the footsteps of both the City of Oakland and Alameda County.

I want to live in a community where people of all backgrounds feel safe and welcome. What we have recently seen in Minneapolis—where federal immigration enforcement operations led to multiple shootings, including the killing of two civilians—raises serious concerns about the impact of having ICE in our communities.

This is a small step towards keeping our community safe.

Thank you,
Megan Tedford

Dear Mayor Ashcraft and Councilmembers -
As a proud and engaged resident in Alameda, I urge you to follow the good examples of Alameda County and the City of Oakland to adopt "ICE-Free Zones" policies. I'm in full support of City staff reviewing these policies and hope that you will take action quickly to demonstrate our shared commitment to keep our community safe and ensuring that we all belong. As part of a faith community that has long practiced sanctuary with and for immigrants, I am especially concerned that we are prepared and ready for any escalation of immigration enforcement in the Alameda.

Thank you!

Hello:

I strongly support bringing item 10-A to the regular agenda. The resolution itself is simply a first step, you're not committing to actualizing ICE-Free Zones (although you absolutely should!). Protecting our vulnerable friends and neighbors in Alameda is well worth some staff research time and many people in the community support the City Council taking this first step. Staff can look no further than our own County for sample language and potential points to include in an ordinance. Please take the first step to put Alameda on the right side of history by doing everything a City can in their power to say NO to ICE, NO to kidnapping and assaulting Alamedans, NO to fascism!
Thank you,

To City Council,
On 1/27/2026, the County of Alameda Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to adopt a critical “ICE-Free Zones” policy that prohibits the use of county-owned property for U.S.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity, along with a countywide immigration enforcement response plan. Shortly thereafter on 1/29/2026, Mayor Barbara Lee of Oakland signed two executive orders of a similar nature – one for “ICE-Free Zones” and a second to prepare for the possible deployment of the National Guard, U.S. Military, or federal immigration personnel to Oakland.

It is PAST time for the City of Alameda to take action as well. Council will consider directing staff to review similar “ICE-Free Zones” actions to be taken in Alameda via agenda item 10-A at the meeting on 4/7/2026. This email is IN SUPPORT of item 10-A. Take action to show that city council is committed to enhancing community safety and practicing equitable and inclusive governance as stated in the City of Alameda Strategic Plan.
