All Good Living Foundation 2332 Alameda Avenue Alameda, CA 94501 (510) 522-6288 Dear City of Alameda Council Members and City Staff, I am writing to express strong support for Corica Park and Greenway Golf, and to respectfully

urge

the

City

to

take

a

measured,

community-centered

approach

regarding

any

effort

to

reclaim

or

alter

the

current

operation

of

the

golf

course.

Corica Park is not simply a recreational facility—it is a high-impact community asset that consistently

delivers

economic,

social,

and

public

benefit

to

the

City

of

Alameda,

including

contributing

to

the

City’s

general

fund,

creating

local

employment

for

more

than

50 individuals,

and

serving

hundreds

of

patrons

daily.

Beyond the numbers, the community impact is where Corica Park stands apart. Through its

partnership

with

All

Good

Living

Foundation

(AGLF),

the

course

has

become

a

platform

for

equitable

access,

youth

development,

and

community

engagement.

Together,

they

provide

Free

Middle

School

Golf

Clinics,

Free

Summer

Programs,

and

“Sundays

on

the

Green,”

ensuring

that

golf—and

the

outdoor

space

itself—is

accessible

to

all,

not

just

a

select

few.

Additionally, Corica Park has delivered over 70,000 hours of free outdoor recreation and opened

its

doors

to

more

than

80 nonprofits,

schools,

and

community

groups.

This

level

of

access

and

inclusion

is

rare

and

reflects

a

deliberate

commitment

to

serving

the

broader

community.

At a time when cities are striving to create more inclusive, activated public spaces, this model

is

already

working

in

Alameda.

It

is

driving

participation,

building

partnerships,

and

expanding

access

in

a

meaningful

way.

Any disruption to the current operation risks undermining these outcomes—impacting not

just

a

facility,

but

the

programs,

relationships,

and

community

trust

that

have

been

built

over

time.

Corica Park, in partnership with AGLF, is not just maintaining a golf course—it is actively contributing

to

a

more

inclusive,

engaged,

and

connected

Alameda.

I respectfully urge the City to recognize this impact and prioritize continuity of these programs

and

partnerships

moving

forward.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Supporting Park Station and live music Date: Tuesday, May 5, 2026 4:19:00 PM
Hi!
Just a note of support for Park Station to continue offering live music.

In addition to the enjoyment a large outdoor, family friendly venue with food and drinks offers, it also provides economic and cultural benefits for the neighborhood and for the city. I have often used the live music at Park Station as a reason to invite people who live in Oakland to come to Alameda— and they do! Plus, it support Bay Area musicians.

I hope some kind of compromise can be found that meets the neighbors' needs and the needs of the larger Alameda and Bay Area community. In a world that is full of increasingly awful things each day, we need more intergenerational-friendly outdoor spaces like Park Station where people can listen to music and dance for the price of a drink or a basket of fries.

Thanks for reading!

Re: Written Comments for May 5, 2026 City of Alameda City Council Meeting / Support for Corica Golf Course operated by Greenway

Dear City Council Members,

I am writing this letter in support of the continued lease between the city of Alameda’s Corica Golf Course and Greenway Golf. Greenway Golf has been a wonderful community partner to our Girl Scout troop in allowing the use of meeting rooms at the Golf Course for our monthly troop meetings for the last two school years as well as even hosting us for cookie sales. Working with Golf Course staff to schedule these meetings has been very easy and our troop has always felt welcomed at the Golf Course. In the past, I have reached out to other entities such as the Harbor Bay shopping center and the Alameda Unified School District (for Earhart Elementary School) to see if we could hold our meetings at their facilities with no luck even though there is plenty of space at these location to support a child-focused community meeting.

The improvements that Greenway Golf have made to the main entrance on Island Drive, including the landscape and mural enhancements to an otherwise blighted and unusable building, as well as the improvements to the meeting rooms to make them comfortable and inviting are all very noticeable. It really makes a positive difference and as a resident of Alameda, and Bay Farm specifically, it brings a great sense of pride to our city. I would like to extend my thanks to Greenway Golf for supporting community activities and being inclusive of the Girl Scout troops that utilize the spaces at the Golf Course. We are fortunate to have a business like Greenway Golf in our city, and we look forward to a continued relationship between the city of Alameda and Greenway Golf.

Sincerely,

Jaimie Orfanos

May 5, 2026 To the City of Alameda Council Members and City Staff, City Hall 2263 Santa Clara Avenue Alameda, CA 94501 RE: Community Impact of Greenway Golf and Corica Park – Testimony of the Sirkis Family We are writing to share our family’s deep appreciation for the exceptional environment fostered by Greenway Golf at Corica Park and the profound influence it has had on our son, Henry Sirkis. Henry is currently completing 7th grade at Lincoln Middle School and has dedicated himself to the sport over the past two years. Because of the accessibility and quality of the facilities at Corica, he is able to practice and play nearly every day. This consistency has allowed him to develop into a competitive golfer with the long-term ambition of playing at the Division 1 collegiate level. A significant milestone in his development was his recent acceptance into the Lucious Bateman Practice Club, an opportunity made possible by the unique programming made available by Greenway Golf. Beyond his personal athletic growth, Corica Park has provided Henry with a meaningful platform to give back to the Alameda community. He is beginning to regularly volunteer his time at the course, including assisting with summer youth camps. This culture of community service and mentorship is a direct reflection of the leadership and values championed by the staff. It is not an overstatement to say that Greenway Golf and its dedicated team, specifically including Director of Community Engagement Tamara Sabella, have had a monumental, positive impact on our family. They have created an inclusive and supportive atmosphere that has become a cornerstone of our son's growth and our family's connection to the city. We hope the City continues to recognize and support the vital role Greenway and Corica play in the lives of Alameda residents. Sincerely, Daniel Sirkis on behalf of the Sirkis Family Alameda, CA May 5, 2026 Dear Members of the Alameda City Council, I am writing to share my family’s experience with Corica Park Golf Course, and to offer a perspective that I hope helps illuminate the true value of what exists there. Two years ago, my son found his way to Corica at a time when we were navigating a difficult stretch. He was struggling to find his footing—socially, emotionally, and in school. Like many families, we were not in a position to afford private lessons or expensive programs, so when we discovered the accessible, low- to no-cost programming at Corica, it felt like an open door we hadn’t expected to find. That door changed everything. Through Corica’s programs, my son didn’t just learn golf—he found a sense of belonging. He found structure, mentorship, and a community that welcomed him as he was while quietly encouraging him to grow. For the first time, he found something that was truly his. His confidence began to build. His mood shifted. His sense of direction became clearer. Today, he is a 9th grader and a member of his high school golf team. That team—and the love of the game that started at Corica—has been the steady force helping him navigate what has otherwise been a challenging transition into high school. It has given him purpose, accountability, and pride. Corica did not just provide access to a sport. It provided access to possibility. Beyond the programming itself, what makes Corica extraordinary is the community it cultivates. From events like First Fridays to opportunities for our son to work as a caddie, there is an intentional effort to create connection and inclusion. It is not simply a golf course—it is a gathering place, a learning space, and for many, a lifeline. As a parent, I now spend most days of the week at golf courses around the Bay Area, and I can say with certainty that what Corica has built is rare. There is a genuine sense of openness and belonging that you do not often see in this sport. It feels accessible. It feels human. It feels like it was designed with community in mind. On a personal note, Corica has given me something unexpected as well—a green space that has become restorative and grounding. It is, in the simplest terms, soul-filling. I am deeply grateful to Tamara and the entire team for the care and intention they bring to their work. They have created more than a facility—they have created opportunity. I urge you to consider the full scope of Corica’s impact. Its value cannot be measured solely in traditional terms. It lives in the lives it changes, the confidence it builds, and the community it strengthens. For my son, it has been transformational. For our family, it has been invaluable. Subject: [EXTERNAL] Letter of Support for Greenway Golf / Corica Park Date: Tuesday, May 5, 2026 12:17:53 PM
To the Alameda City Council and Community Leaders,
For the past 15 years, I've worked for Youth on Course, a non-profit organization focused on ensuring golf is accessible for any kid who wants to play. We provide around 400k youth with access to thousands of courses across the country where they can play golf for $5 or less. In my role, I’ve visited countless courses and few have impressed me as much as Greenway Golf and its operation of Corica Park in Alameda, CA.

Greenway has done something remarkable. They’ve transformed Corica Park into a course and green space that balances championship-level quality with genuine affordability and inclusion. I’ve seen how they prioritize juniors, families, and community access in ways that 99% of courses don’t.

Among the many courses Youth on Course partners with, Greenway stands out as among the best in the country at aligning business operations with a mission focused on access.

They haven’t just maintained a municipal course; they’ve elevated it into a model for public golf done right.

Thank you for your continued support of Greenway Golf. Their work at Corica Park is a national example of how public golf can thrive while serving everyone—especially the next generation.

If there's an opportunity to speak with anyone, or additional support or insight I can offer, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,
Michael Lowe
