Dear Mayor and Members of the City Council,
As a technology company operating at Alameda Point, Rain Industries is proud to be part of the growing community of innovative companies that have chosen to build and test new technologies here. We would welcome Longshot Space as a neighbor and as part of this growing ecosystem.
Longshot’s work complements the innovative industries already operating at Alameda Point, including our own. The company is developing technology aimed at making access to space more frequent and cost-effective, and we believe Alameda Point is well suited to support this type of ambitious engineering and testing work. In our view, putting a former navy facility to productive use for technology development is a compelling example of how Alameda Point can support both its industrial heritage and its future.
We believe Longshot would be an exciting addition to Alameda Point and would further strengthen the community of technology and advanced engineering companies operating here.
Rain Industries supports Longshot’s tenancy and encourages the City Council to approve the lease agreement and enable Longshot to establish its future in Alameda.
Sincerely,
Maxwell Brodie

Dear Mayor and City Council:
I am writing to express my support for staff’s recommendation to lease Building 29 at Alameda Point to Longshot Space.
As an Alameda resident, I believe Longshot is an ideal fit for the growing business community at Alameda Point.
Bringing new companies with new technologies to Alameda will help attract additional companies, investment and people that will help transform the former Naval Base into a thriving part of our community.
To deal with many of the challenges that Alameda faces we need more jobs and employers on Alameda. If more people were able to work on the island, it would reduce traffic for those working off island and would also help meet our climate goals, two critical priorities for our community. Also if there was more legitimate activity at the Point it would be used less for sideshows and other illegal activity.
For Alameda Point to be more than vacant buildings, fire hazards and a decaying monument to a once vibrant part of the community, we need to encourage opportunities like this by leasing to Longshot as soon as possible.
We also need to look at how as a city we can make it easier for companies to do business on Alameda and at Alameda Point specifically. Key barriers company’s face are delays and uncertainty regarding permitting and approvals. While many our necessary to ensure safety and such, it seems we are often more focused on process then the end results. We need to take a “yes” and “let us help you” attitude when it comes to economic development.
Our community would be better off with a redeveloped Alameda Point, full of good safe housing, jobs and Alamedans. We need to figure out how to make that happen, approving this lease is a small step in that direction.
Regards,
Nick Ksiazek

Dear Mayor and City Council,
Alameda Point is, proudly and uniquely, already home to several technology leaders specifically in the hardware space tackling groundbreaking work in energy, space and clean tech. We would welcome Longshot Space as a neighbor and part of this vibrant and growing network.
Longshot is working towards a future where reaching space is no longer limited by the cost, complexity, and cadence of traditional rocket launches, enabling future space technologies and accelerating current ones. Their exciting and innovative work attracts investors and stakeholders alike, benefiting all companies and industries located here at Alameda Point. This promotes and continues to manifest Alameda Point as a technology innovation hub unique to the Bay Area and beyond.
Regarding Building 29, we can’t think of a better reuse for the building used in the past than for testing Longshot’s technology for the future. Longshot would be an excellent and exciting addition for the Base that aligns well with city objectives.
We encourage the Council to approve the lease agreement and secure Longshot’s future in Alameda.
Best Regards,
Thomas Boerner

Dear Mayor and City Council:
I’m writing in support of Longshot Space’s long-term lease at Alameda Point.
Working at the Point as I have for the last 20 years, I’ve come to appreciate the growing community of technology companies here. These businesses bring diverse and interesting jobs to Alameda, support local restaurants and cafes, and give more people a reason to use our ferry connections. They also bring new life to the former naval buildings that make this place so distinctive.
I work at Rain, based in the former air traffic control tower, and have enjoyed getting to know Longshot as a neighbor. Beyond their work to make access to space more affordable, they are exceptionally friendly and have made an effort to bring the businesses at the Point together to share ideas and support one another. That kind of neighborliness helps make a collection of businesses feel like a community.
Building 29’s history as a naval workshop and testing facility makes it a fitting home for Longshot’s work. I’m glad to see these buildings finding new purpose and would love to see this community continue to grow.
I encourage the Council to approve the lease agreement and secure Longshot’s future at Alameda Point.
Sincerely,
Andrea Dunlap

Support for Council Item #2026-6240: Lease for Longshot Space Dear Mayor and City Council:
On behalf of the Alameda Chamber & Economic Alliance, I write in support of a lease in Building 29 at Alameda Point for Longshot Space.
Longshot's aerospace engineering, science, and manufacturing work aligns with the City's climate action and resiliency objectives, as well as the City's economic development goals. Their mission to build reusable and less costly access to space also aligns with the College of Alameda's STEM and career education efforts.
Longshot's presence will continue to create and expand technical job opportunities across engineering, science, manufacturing, and research and development, adding new jobs to the island. This growth gives College of Alameda students the chance to learn and work in their own community. By encouraging Longshot's operations in Alameda, we open the door to partnerships with local schools, universities, and research institutions that foster talent development and further economic growth. The College of Alameda is well positioned to serve as a consistent workforce pipeline.
We encourage the Council to provide Longshot Space a lease in Building 29 and look forward to our continued partnership.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Madlen Saddik
