Council Strategic Plan – Review & Update of Mission Statement, Goals, and Objectives
Shawn Sp
ano, consultant, presented the materials for the Work Session and reviewed the Iceberg Model of City Work . The intent is not to review the Strategic Plan point by point. The Strategic Plan contains the Council’s key priorities for the City for the coming year. Council sets the direction, vision, and priorities for the organization, and staff develops a work plan that determines the staff, timeline, and resources needed to accomplish the objective.
The result
s of the Council survey revealed a great deal of consensus for priorities of promoting housing availability and quality ; advance climate action and adaptation; transportation and safety ; diversity, inclusion and equity; and economic development .
Public safety may be part of the day -to-day work of the City rather than a priority for the next two years.
City M
anager Nicole Almaguer indicated staff made significant strides in many areas of the Strategic Plan. Some work plan items may not have been completed for a few different reasons, such as impacts by unforeseen circumstances, or limited resources . Staff has accomplished a myriad of things under the goals and objectives, but the accomplishments may not be reported clearly and concisely in the format of the Strategic Plan.
The Council
reviewed the strategic plan goals and objectives to include the goals of:
Advance Climate Action and Adaptation, Housing Availability and Quality, Promote Streets that Support Transportation, Safety & Mobility, Increase Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Our Community, Increase Revenue, Public Health, Safety and Resiliency. •
