Alternatives to providing affordable units include paying an in -lieu fee, providing units off -site, or donating land. Since September 2020, eight residential projects have been submitted to the City and five of them were subject to the IHO requirements. Of the fiv e projects, two selected to provide affordable units in their projects (3 total, 2 low income and 1 moderate income) and three chose to pay the in-lieu fee. The three projects currently in plan check have not paid the fees yet; however, when the plans are approved, staff anticipates the in-lieu fees paid will total approximately $186,999.25 by the time the projects are complete and prior to issuance of certificate of occupancy.

Based upon the normal course of business, their services usually do not exceed $200,000 per fiscal year.
