ROLL CALL: At 4:35 p.m., on Monday, March 13, 2023, the Alhambra City Council met in Council Chambers of the Alhambra City Hall.
PRESENT: LEE, MALONEY , ANDRADE-STADLER
ABSENT: MAZA , PÉREZ
Officials Present: City Manager Binnquist, Assistant City Manager Garcia , Deputy City Manager Stover, City Attorney Montes, City Clerk Myles , Director of Human Resouces Ko CITY CLERK REPORT - NOTICE NO. N2M 2 3- 28
The City Clerk hereby report ed that she duly gave notice of the special meeting of the City Council being held this afternoon pursuant to the order of the Mayor and in accordance with Section 54956 of the Government Code of the State of California.
PUBLIC COMMENT for non- agendized items – F2M23-4
1) Javier Gutierrez, representing the Alhambra High School DREAM Center, invited Council and the public to the 5 th annual Coming Out of the Shadows event , “Recipes of Identity, ” to honor the stories of immigrant students. He invited a couple students to share their stories. 2) A lexa shared her story about her family and the food important to her such as huaraches. 3) Derrick shared his story about his family and the food impor tant to him such as soup dumplings.
Discussion : Council thanked the students for sharing their stories and discussed the importance of cultural exchange through food.
CLOSED SESSION & CITY ATTORNEY ANNOUNCEMENT re SAME - F2M2 3 -14 City Attorney MONTES identified those items listed on this evening ’s agenda which would be discussed in Closed Session as follows:
Conference with Legal Counsel - Anticipated Litigation: Initiation of litigation pursuant to Govt. Code Section 54956.9(d)(4): 1 matter.
Discussion of Personnel Matters (Govt. Code Section 54957): Public Employee Performance Evaluation : City Manager
Conference with City ’s Labor Negotiator (Govt. Code Section 54957.6): Mariam Ko , Director of Human Resources re: Alhambra Police Dispatch Association 2 3-13-23
whereupon at 4:50 p.m. the City Council moved into closed session pursuant to applicable law, including the Brown Act (Government Code Sec. 54950, et seq.) for the purpose of conferring with the City Attorney.
MAZA & PÉREZ : Councilmember Ma za and Councilmember P é rez entered Closed Session at 4:55 p.m.
RECONVENE & CITY ATTORNEY REPORT : At 6: 08 p.m. the City Council moved out of closed s ession with all members present.
ADJOURNMENT: At 6: 0 9 p.m. there being no further business for the Council to transact, the Mayor, with the consent of the City Council, adjourn ed the meeting .
