City Hall Council Chambers
July 28, 2023 at 3:00 p.m.
Alturas City Council Mayor Brian Cox called the special meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. at the City Council Chambers. Councilmembers present: Paul Minchella, Samantha Wood, Cheryl Nelson, Kelly Crosby and Brian Cox. Councilmembers absent: None. Staff present: City Treasurer Dorothy Long and Sergeant Marc Muller. Public attending: None. All present joined together in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Cox explains to the City Council the need to have an Acting Chief during this period of absence taken by Police Chief Cullins.
Councilmember Crosby commends Sergeant Muller for being willing to step up during this time and take on additional duties for the Police Department.
MOTION by Councilmember Crosby, SECONDED by Councilmember Nelson to adopt Resolution #2023-42 authorizing and appointing Sergeant Marc Muller as Acting Chief of Police for the Alturas Police Department due to a leave of absence by current Chief of Police. AYES: Councilmember Nelson, Councilmember Crosby, Councilmember Wood, and Mayor Cox. ABSTAIN: Councilmember Minchella.
