12 Watson Lane Alternative (Previously Rejected)
Benefits
• Lower cost compared to a grade-separated crossing.
• Reduce the intensity of construction.
• More direct connection of Watson Lane residents to Watson Ranch.
Constraints
• Delays to emergency access b/c at-grade RR crossing.
• Less direct connection to SR 29 (increased VMT and travel time). • Impact to existing residences.
• Conflicts with General Plan and WRSP.
“In conclusion, provision of the Newell Drive extension under the proposed Project is recommended because it would better enhance access to most properties east of the railroad tracks, and thus have a more desirable effect on long- term citywide and regional circulation.” - Paoli-Watson Lane EIR (2023) when comparing Watson Lane as alternative to Newell Drive.
