CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
City of Anaheim

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
DATE: FEBRUARY 1, 2022
FROM: DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
SUBJECT: ANAHEIM RESORT MOBILITY STUDY
ATTACHMENT (Y/N): NO ITEM # 06
RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council receive a presentation on the Anaheim Resort Mobility Study.

DISCUSSION:

In 2018, the City of Anaheim pursued and was awarded Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant funds provided by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) for The Anaheim Resort Mobility Study (Study). The Anaheim Tourism Improvement District provided additional funding for the Study.

The purpose of developing the Anaheim Resort Mobility Study was to identify potential options to enhance pedestrian, bicyclist, motorist, and public transit circulation in and around The Anaheim Resort. This document was prepared as a collaborative effort with area stakeholders including residents, employees, area businesses, active transportation advocacy groups, Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), Anaheim Transportation Network (ATN), Caltrans, and visitors. Multiple outreach efforts were conducted including holding a Community Open House, hosting walk and bike audits, attending Neighborhood District Community Meetings, seeking input through an online public survey and performing user surveys. Additionally, input was also sought from an advisory group consisting of staff from the City of Anaheim and partner agencies such as OCTA and ATN through stakeholder meetings. Fehr & Peers, a nationally recognized transportation planning consulting firm, was selected to lead a team who prepared this Study with the City.

Ultimately, this Study will serve as a toolbox summary; highlighting the mobility vision for The Anaheim Resort area, incorporating public input, and documenting the process and options for improving mobility. None of the identified mobility improvements options are required nor mandatory. Selection of any of the options identified in this Study would be subject to further study, funding opportunities and approval by the City and other responsible agencies.

IMPACT ON BUDGET:
