CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
City of Anaheim

COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT
DATE: APRIL 26, 2022
FROM: COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT
SUBJECT: APPROVE SECOND AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT WITH

SCHMIDT DESIGN GROUP FOR ADDITIONAL DESIGN SERVICES
ATTACHMENT (Y/N): YES ITEM # 16
RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council, by Motion, approve a Second Amendment to Agreement with Schmidt Design Group, Inc. (SDG), in the amount of $55,062 for a total contract amount of $336,474, for additional design services for the Center Greens Improvement project; and authorize and direct the Director of Community Services, or designee, on behalf of the City, to execute the Second Amendment and any other related documents and take such actions as are necessary to implement and administer the Second Amendment.

DISCUSSION:

In August 2019, City Council approved an Agreement with SDG in the amount of $202,816 for design, engineering, and construction administration services for Phase One of the Center Greens Improvement project. In 2020, additional funding was received from a grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund to complete the majority of the project’s Master Plan improvements requested by the community and a First Amendment was approved with SDG for additional design services for the expanded scope.

Through the design process, additional sustainable elements were identified and were incorporated into the project, resulting in additional water capture and retention as well as a new reclaimed water irrigation system throughout the park. Staff recommends that the Second Amendment with SDG be approved to design these elements.

IMPACT ON THE BUDGET:

Sufficient funds are available in the Community Services Department’s FY 2021/2022 capital improvement budget.

Respectfully submitted,
Sjany Larson-Cash
Director of Community Services
