RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, by Motion, approve an easement deed (Easement Deed) in favor of Pacific Bell Telephone Company, dba AT&T California (AT&T), authorize and direct the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the Easement Deed, and authorize and direct the City Clerk to deliver the Easement to AT&T for recordation.
DISCUSSION:
Anaheim Public Utilities Department (APU) is making various improvements to the La Palma Water Complex located at 1016 N. West Street, near La Palma Avenue as part of the ongoing groundwater treatment project approved by City Council on April 27, 2021.
To improve security of the new water treatment plant, APU will be replacing the existing chain link fence between the La Palma Water Complex and adjacent residential properties with an 8-foot block wall.
APU has overhead electrical facilities on wood poles along the property line that are jointly owned by telecommunication provider AT&T. The wood poles are currently in conflict with the construction of the proposed block wall. APU recently completed the electrical undergrounding in March 2022, and AT&T is in the process of undergrounding their aerial facilities. In order for AT&T to complete their improvements, AT&T is requesting an easement on City property to place new underground facilities. City Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the Easement Deed.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
There is no budgetary impact.
