CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
City of Anaheim
CITY MANAGER’S OFFICE
DATE: MAY 24, 2022
FROM: CITY MANAGER’S OFFICE
SUBJECT: APPROVE AGREEMENTS FOR VIDEOGRAPHY SERVICES
ATTACHMENT (Y/N): YES ITEM # 19
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, by Motion, waive Council Policy 4.1 and
1. Approve an Agreement with 92 Films for a not to exceed amount of $300,000 for the term of the agreement for videography services;
2. Approve an Agreement with Ron Roberson for a not to exceed amount of $300,000 for the term of the agreement for videography services; and
3. Authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute and administer the agreements and any related documents.
DISCUSSION:
Video services play a critical role in reaching Anaheim residents, businesses, and visitors with important messages about City news, events and programs, and the broadcasting of City Council meetings. The scope of the Communications Office’s video services touches all City departments.
Videography is used to communicate with residents during critical events, such as the coronavirus pandemic, wildfires, and statewide rolling blackouts. Video services are also used to broadcast City Council meetings and workshops, city events, ground breakings, and ribbon cuttings with the purpose of providing content for social media, the City’s cable channel Anaheim TV, and general documentation purposes.
To meet the needs of additional video support, in 2014 the City hired video contractor Ron Roberson to support a full-time video operations manager position. Since then, the full-time staff position has been vacated and temporarily filled with video contractors Ron Roberson and, since 2019, 92 Films.
Ron Roberson and 92 Films continue to meet deadlines and exceed expectations.
Collectively they oversee the day-to-day programming and function of Anaheim TV.
The new Agreement for Ron Roberson will increase the hourly rate from $40 to $50 and the overtime rate from $60 to $70 per hour, and the not to exceed amount from $50,000 to $300,000 for the life of the contract.
The Agreement for 92 Films will increase the hourly rate from $30 to $40 and the overtime rate from $45 to $60 per hour and the not to exceed from $50,000 to $300,000 for the life of the contract.
