SUBJECT: RATIFY AGREEMENTS FOR MOLD REMEDIATION AND
CLEANING SERVICES FOR THE HVAC ROOM AT CITY HALL

RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, by Motion, waive the sealed bid requirement of Council Policy
4.0 and ratify a purchase order issued to Machado Environmental Corp., Glendale, CA, in the amount of $31,000, for providing cleaning of the air handling equipment and a master agreement with ATI Restoration LLC, in the not to exceed amount of $60,000, for mold remediation of the HVAC room at City Hall.
DISCUSSION:
Staff identified an issue in the HVAC room at the end of March 2022. A Certified Industrial Hygienist was contacted to perform the necessary study and testing of the HVAC room and reported no immediate safety concerns. However, since there was mold present, staff determined that the situation should be addressed immediately. Staff contacted the appropriate companies to address the findings in the hygienist report and expedited the scheduling of the work. The remediation work, as well as the sanitizing of the room and equipment, was performed after normal work hours and over two weekends.
At the time of this report, all work has been completed at a total cost for all services of $76,131.46 and is therefore being presented for ratification.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Sufficient funds were available in the Public Works Fiscal Year 2021/22 Facility Maintenance Fund budget.
