CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
City of Anaheim

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
DATE: JUNE 7, 2022
FROM: DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
SUBJECT: CONTRACT CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 FOR NOHL RANCH

ROAD SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENTS FROM

MASTER AGREEMENT FOR SEWER, DRAIN AND PUMP

STATION CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE, REPAIR AND

IMMEDIATE RESPONSE SERVICES
ATTACHMENT (Y/N): YES ITEM # 06
RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council, by Motion, approve Contract Change Order No. 1, in the amount of $16,647.92, with Mike Prlich & Sons, Inc. for the Nohl Ranch Road Sanitary Sewer Improvements, and authorize and direct the Director of Public Works, or designee, to execute the Contract Change Order and any related documents.

DISCUSSION:

On June 4, 2019, the City Council awarded the Master Agreement for Street Construction and Immediate Response Program, in an amount not to exceed $500,000 per work order package to 12 contractors, including Mike Prlich & Sons, Inc. On October 7, 2021, Mike Prlich & Sons, Inc. was awarded a work order and given the Notice to Proceed to replace and repair an existing sewer line sag on Nohl Ranch Road.

This change order will satisfy the additional costs incurred by Mike Prlich & Sons, Inc. to address unforeseen conditions encountered during construction. Adjustments to the original project bid value of $88,400 will include additional time and labor for remediation of two existing utility conflicts (Communication and Gas) not shown on plans and/or mismarked by Underground Service Alert.

Approval of this contract change order in the amount of $16,647.92 will exceed the 10% threshold of the awarded work order amount of $88,400 and increase the contract by approximately 18.83% for a new total of $105,047.92.

IMPACT ON BUDGET:

Sufficient funds are available in the wastewater fund as part of the Public Works FY2021/22 budget.

Respectfully submitted,
Rudy Emami
Public Works Director
