CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
City of Anaheim

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
DATE: JUNE 21, 2022
FROM: DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
SUBJECT: FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH

UNIVERSAL PROTECTION SERVICE, LP FOR SECURITY

GUARD SERVICES
ATTACHMENT (Y/N): YES ITEM # 05
RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council, by Motion, waive Council Policy 4.1 and approve the First Amendment to the Agreement with Universal Protection Service, LP (dba Allied Universal Security Services) to extend the term of the Agreement for an additional six (6) months, increasing the contract amount by $210,000 for a total amount not to exceed $962,553 per year; and authorize the Director of Public Works or designee, on behalf of the City, to take any and all actions as are necessary to implement and administer the amendment.

DISCUSSION:

The City provides professional security guard services at the Civic Center which includes City Hall, Anaheim West Tower, and the adjacent parking structures. The security guard services are currently responsible for security screening and active patrolling throughout the Civic Center to ensure safety and accessibility to our employees, residents, businesses, and visitors. The security guards operate on a 24 hour/7 days a week schedule.

Allied Universal Security Services is the current provider for security guard services at the Civic Center and the contract is set to expire on June 30, 2022. The current agreement is out of renewal options and the amendment is needed to extend the contract while the procurement process is completed. This will avoid the potential for a lapse in security guard services.

IMPACT ON BUDGET:

Sufficient funds are included in the Public Works Department's Proposed Fiscal Year 2022/2023 Facilities Fund Budget.

Respectfully submitted,
Rudy Emami
Public Works Director
