VACANCIES, TERMS EXPIRING JUNE 30, 2022

RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, through the nomination and appointment process, make two (2) appointments to the Library Board for terms expiring June 30, 2022, to a four year term ending June 30, 2026.
DISCUSSION:
City boards and commissions perform a valuable service to the City by providing a means by which the City Council can obtain the advice, opinions, and recommendations of City residents and other members of the community.
The Library Board is comprised of five members all of whom shall serve a term of four years, as governed by Section 908 of the City Charter, and is excluded from the by- district appointment method. The board members are appointed by a majority vote of the City Council.
Incumbents Rose Chen and Linda Newby are both eligible for reappointment and have both expressed interest to continue to serve on the board. Rose Chen was first appointed to the Library Board on April 25, 2017 to a term ending June 30, 2018 and re-appointed to a full term expiring on June 30, 2022. Linda Newby was first appointed on July 17, 2018 to a full term expiring on June 30, 2022.
Pursuant to Section 54972 of the Government Code, the Notice of Scheduled Vacancies was posted and has remained posted.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
There is no budgetary impact.
