CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
City of Anaheim

FINANCE DEPARTMENT
DATE: JULY 19, 2022
FROM: FINANCE DEPARTMENT
SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF BID FOR UPFITTING OF ANAHEIM FIRE &

RESCUE AMBULANCES
ATTACHMENT (Y/N): NO ITEM # 01
RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council, by Motion, accept the bid from 911 Vehicle, Inc., in the amount of $126,740 plus applicable tax, to perform upfitting services for eight new ambulances being received in 2022 by Anaheim Fire & Rescue (AF&R), all in accordance with Bid #9602.

DISCUSSION:

Purchasing solicited bids from known suppliers and posted the bid on the Internet.

Sealed bids were received by 2:00 p.m., July 7, 2022, from the following vendors and were publicly opened immediately thereafter.

Bidder Total Bid
911 Vehicle, Inc. $126,740
Anaheim, CA
The bid was based on upfitting eight new ambulances with all the necessary wiring, antennas, and communications equipment necessary to add the vehicles to the AF&R fleet. AF&R expects to receive four ambulances in July with the remaining four to be delivered by the end of the calendar year. The bid outlines all the necessary equipment (some being provided by the City), wiring, and miscellaneous components necessary to fully connect these ambulances to the city communication network. The bid requested fixed pricing for the work on the first four ambulances and then allowed separate pricing for the work on the four units at the end of the year. This method allowed the bidders to consider potential increases in labor and material cost before bidding on the final four units and allows the city to receive firm pricing so all units will be completed uniformly by the same vendor.

City staff notified a number of potential bidders to encourage participation, however due to strict specifications required by AF&R, other potential vendors for this type of work decided not to submit a bid.
