CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
City of Anaheim

FINANCE DEPARTMENT
DATE: AUGUST 23, 2022
FROM: FINANCE DEPARTMENT
SUBJECT: RATIFY INCREASE TO THE MASTER AGREEMENT FOR

MEDICAL SUPPLIES FOR ANAHEIM FIRE AND RESCUE
ATTACHMENT (Y/N): YES ITEM # 04
RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council, by Motion, waive the sealed bid requirement of Council Policy

4.0 and ratify an increase to the current master agreement with Bound Tree Medical, in the amount of $84,195.62 for the purchase of medical supplies, thereby increasing the maximum value of the agreement from $336,785.38 to $420,981. The additional costs were due to purchases of items under this agreement that were initially expected to be made using other available agreements.

DISCUSSION:

In September 2021 Council accepted the bid from Bound Tree Medical and authorized an ongoing agreement based on a competitive bid. The bid included items covering the majority of medical supply categories used by Anaheim Fire and Rescue. An additional group of items, mainly nitrile gloves and intraosseous (IO) supplies, from other expiring agreements were ultimately purchased under this agreement. Those additional purchases have left the agreement short of funds causing the necessary increase of $84,196 (35%) in the approved maximum value of the agreement. This increase should only be required during this initial term of the agreement as the additional groups of items will be bid and purchased under separate master agreements in the future. Purchase of the items has started and the council is requested to ratify the increase to the Master Agreement.

IMPACT ON BUDGET:

Sufficient funds are included in the Fire and Rescue Department’s FY 2022/23 General Fund Budget.

Respectfully submitted, Concurred by,
Barrick L. Bartlett Patrick Russell
Purchasing Agent Fire Chief
