SCHOOL DISTRICT COMMUNITY SCHOOLS

RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, by Resolution, express support of local public community schools and the Anaheim Union High School District community schools model.
DISCUSSION:
At the August 23, 2022 City Council Meeting, Council Member Moreno requested that the Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) and the Anaheim Elementary School District (AESD) make a presentation at the September 27, 2022 City Council meeting regarding the California Community Schools Partnership Program. A presentation will be provided by AUHSD and AESD at the September 27 Council meeting.
Attached for Council consideration is a Resolution of support for AUHSD community schools model. The Resolution outlines the district’s commitment to the creation and maintenance of community schools to collaborate with community-based organizations, local governments, and businesses to increase the resources and services available to students, families, and the broader community to address the challenges of mental health, housing, access to health care, workplace preparedness, and mentorships and internships in the Anaheim community.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
There is no budgetary impact.
