These devices will be used by Public Utilities Department’s field staff including meter readers, inspectors, warehouse staff, linemen, and troubleshooters to help complete critical day- to-day tasks including troubleshooting power outages; restoring customers’ electric and water services; recording and photographing the status of equipment; uploading data in real-time; and accessing current work orders, maps, and safety documents on a secure network. Previous ruggedized laptops were used for field applications only. This purchase includes the procurement of docking stations that will enable field staff to be provided with a single computer device used in both the field and the office.
