The bid was issued to purchase 175 tree lighting rings to be installed by staff in palm trees in the resort district. These items will be compatible with other landscape and palm lighting fixtures installed over the last couple of years and will include light fixture mounting rings and wiring harnesses. The new lights will also match the current lighting design that was installed on the new hotels in the resort over the last three years. These lights are replacing the existing lights that are on the parkway trees and are new energy efficient light-emitting diode (LED) lights that will enhance the lighting along the parkways and sidewalks. The new LED lights are similar to lights currently installed in the median, with the exception that they will only emit white light. The compatibility will allow for a simpler method to program and control the various fixtures including the existing multi-color LED lights for the taller palms.
