REQUESTED ACTION:
That the City Council, by Motion, discuss and provide direction to staff on commencing a process to create a Vision Document and Strategic Plan, including the possibility of entering into an agreement with a consultant.
DISCUSSION:
At the Council meeting of December 6, 2022, Council Member Natalie Meeks requested to agendize a discussion on creating a vision document and strategic plan for the city of Anaheim. Historically, a vision document and strategic plan can serve as a roadmap for City Council and city staff and is used to prioritize initiatives, resources, goals, department operations and projects. The city conducted a number of strategic plans overtime utilizing a variety of models. Previous strategic plans were facilitated by a consultant to engage and guide City Council and executive staff for thoughtful dialogue and results.
Staff is looking for further direction from City Council regarding next steps to begin the strategic planning process.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
The vision document and strategic plan costs vary depending on the Strategic Planning model, the budget is estimated to range $65,000 to $200,000.
