RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, by Motion, approve recognitions to be delivered at a later date.
DISCUSSION:
At various times throughout the year, the City Council recognizes outstanding individuals, groups, and organizations for their extraordinary achievements and/or contributions to the Anaheim community. Council has the discretion to issue Proclamations, Declarations, and Certificates of Recognition to these deserving parties.
The following has been recommended to receive a Proclamation or Certificate of Recognition:
Proclamation: Recognizing Chance Theater on their 14 awards received at the Orange County Theater Guild Awards. (Requested by Mayor Aitken) Proclamation: Recognizing Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School’s Dedication Plaque Ceremony commemorating the school’s recent renovations. (Requested by Mayor Aitken)
Proclamation: Recognizing Mothers Against Drunk Driving of Southern California’s Power Talk 21 on their efforts to encourage parents to talk to their children about alcohol abuse. (Requested by Council Member Diaz) Recognition: Recognizing Casey Ortiz on receiving a $50,000 Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) scholarship from Southern California Edison. (Requested by Council Member Meeks)
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
There is no budgetary impact.
