RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, following a public hearing, by Resolution, authorize the adjustment of various service and permit fees to be charged by the Department of Public Works (Department).
DISCUSSION:
The fee schedule details the service and permit fees being recommended for an increase by the Department. It provides for an equitable distribution of costs and ensures that those receiving services will not pay more than the actual cost of the services provided.
For Fiscal Year 2023/24, it is recommended to increase service and permit fees by 3% for the purpose of keeping pace with increases in CPI, as well as the labor costs of providing services. Some Service Fee Deposits are proposed to increase by more than 3% in order to align with actual costs and better serve customers. Public Works Developer Impact Fees are not changing and will be evaluated at a future time.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
If adopted, the proposed fee changes would increase the Public Works General Fund revenues by approximately $247,000.
