City of Anaheim

OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK
DATE: JULY 11, 2023
FROM: OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK
SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT TO THE YOUTH COMMISSION (MAYORAL)
ATTACHMENT (Y/N): YES ITEM # 11
GOVERNMENT CODE § 84308 APPLIES: NO
RECOMMENDATION:

That the Mayor, through the nomination and appointment process, make two appointments to the Youth Commission to serve unexpired terms ending August 31, 2023.

DISCUSSION:

City boards and commissions (“commissions”) perform a valuable service to the City by providing a means by which the City Council can obtain the advice, opinions, and recommendations of City residents and other members of the community.

The Youth Commission acts as an advisory body to the City Council on the needs, assessments, priorities and interests of the children and youth of Anaheim, consisting of fourteen (14) members between the ages of 14 and 21. The Mayor and each City Council Member directly nominates two (2) members to the Youth Commission. Mayor Ashleigh Aitken is prepared to make appointments to unscheduled vacancies, each to serve a term ending August 31, 2023.

The Notice of Unscheduled Vacancy was posted and remained posted for ten working days pursuant to Government Code Section 54974.

IMPACT ON BUDGET:

Funds to support the work of the Boards and Commissions are budgeted by the City Departments providing support and liaison.

Respectfully submitted,
Theresa Bass
