JURY REPORT, “HUMAN SEX TRAFFICKING IN OC”

RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, by Motion, approve the attached response to the 2022-2023 Orange County Grand Jury Report, “Human Sex Trafficking in OC,” and direct the City Manager to execute a letter and forward the response to the Presiding Judge of the Orange County Court and the Orange County Grand Jury.
DISCUSSION:
The Orange County Grand Jury recently issued a report, “Human Sex Trafficking in OC.” The report focuses on the collaborative approach to human sex trafficking in Orange County, addresses shortcomings to investigating these crimes and supporting the victims, and provides for recommendations for municipal, county and state social service related agencies, law enforcement, non-profit groups and educational institutions to combat sex trafficking. The Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force, which is led on the law enforcement side by the Anaheim Police Department was commended for their collaboration and victim centric approach to sex trafficking investigations. The report makes eleven findings and six recommendations and the response to those are attached for review.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
There is no impact on the City’s budget.
