RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, by Motion, waive the sealed bid requirement of Council Policy
4.0 and ratify the purchase orders issued to Professional Police Supply, Inc., Los Alamitos, California, in the combined amount of $86,293.53 for providing various parts needed to upfit 11 new Anaheim Police Department vehicles.
DISCUSSION:
The parts were purchased by the City in order to supply the necessary items to vendors performing the upfitting work on the 11 newly purchased police Sport Utility Vehicles.
The upfit of these vehicles is a priority in order to maximize the number of units available for patrol duties. The City previously contracted with vendors to perform the labor necessary to install the various items required to safely operate these units.
Examples of the items purchased include emergency light bars, computer mounts, window screens, radio mounts, and rear seat partitions. These purchases were made using an expedited process in order to shorten the time needed to ready these vehicles for service.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Sufficient funds are available in the Public Works Department’s Motorized Equipment Fund Fiscal Year 2023/24 budget.
