RECOMMENDATION:
That District 1 and 2 City Council Members, through the nomination and appointment process, make an appointment to the Sister City Commission with terms ending December 31, 2024 and December 31, 2026, respectively.
DISCUSSION:
City boards and commissions (“commissions”) perform a valuable service to the City by providing a means by which the City Council can obtain the advice, opinions, and recommendations of City residents and other members of the community. Certain appointments are directly nominated by and serves a term concurrent with the nominating elected official, which is ratified by an affirmative majority vote of the City Council.
District 1 Council Member Jose Diaz and District 2 Council Member Carlos Leon are prepared to make an appointment to the Sister City Commission with terms ending December 31, 2024 and December 31, 2026, respectively.
Pursuant to Government Code Section 54972, the Local Appointments List has and remains posted.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Funds to support the work of the Boards and Commissions are budgeted by the City Departments providing support and liaison.
