RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, by Resolution, reciting the fact of the Special Municipal Election held on October 3, 2023, declaring the results and such other matters as may be provided by law.
DISCUSSION:
Pursuant to Article XIII of the City Charter and the Elections Code of the State of California, the Anaheim City Council called a Special Municipal Election to be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 for the purpose of submitting an initiative measure proposing a minimum wage and worker retention, safety and workload ordinance to the qualified voters of the City (Measure A).
A total of 35,057 votes were cast in the October 3, 2023 Special Municipal, with a majority of the votes on Measure A voting “No”.
The votes were as follows:

Total Ballots Cast: 35,057
Section 10262(b) of the California Election Code requires the City Clerk, upon receipt of the results of the election from the Orange County Registrar of Voters, to certify the results to the governing body following presentation of the canvass of the returns. The Certificate of Registrar of Voters as to the Results of the Canvass (Exhibit A) reflects the full, true and correct Statement of Vote, of the Special Municipal Election held on October 3, 2023 declaring the vote on the measure.
