RECOMMENDATION:
That District 4 City Council Member, through the nomination and appointment process, make an appointment to the Housing and Community Development Commission with term ending December 31, 2024.
DISCUSSION:
City boards and commissions (“commissions”) perform a valuable service to the City by providing a means by which the City Council can obtain the advice, opinions, and recommendations of City residents and other members of the community. The Housing and Community Development Commission acts as an advisory body to the City Council and assists in soliciting citizen participation relating to community development efforts and uses of HUD funds within each respective neighborhood council area. Certain appointments are directly nominated by and serves a term concurrent with the nominating elected official, which is ratified by an affirmative majority vote of the City Council.
Daniel Dominguez was first appointed to the Housing and Community Development Commission on February 28, 2023 to a term ending December 31, 2024. Mr.
Dominguez stated he is unable to complete his term and therefore appointment to complete his term is necessary.
Pursuant to Section 54974 of the Government Code, the Notice of Unscheduled Vacancy was posted and has remained posted for ten working days.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Funds to support the work of the Boards and Commissions are budgeted by the City Departments providing support and liaison.
