That the City Council, by Motion, approve a License and Facilities Use Agreement with the Anaheim Senior Citizens Club, Inc., to utilize office and programming space at the Downtown Anaheim Community Center, and programming space only, on a shared basis, at the Brookhurst and East Anaheim Community Centers, the Miraloma and Ponderosa Park Family Resource Centers, and at the West Anaheim and Downtown Anaheim Youth Centers, to provide activities to senior citizens for a period of ten years with five optional one-year renewals; and authorize the Director of Community Services to execute the Agreement and related documents.
DISCUSSION:
Since its inception in 1957, the Anaheim Senior Citizens Club, Inc. (ASCC) has held an agreement with the City of Anaheim to share space, collaborate and provide a comprehensive program of nutrition, health, resource, education, and recreation opportunities to support the city’s senior population. ASCC has a long history of utilizing various facilities and partnering with the City of Anaheim.
In 1997, the ASCC entered into a shared use agreement with the city to utilize space in the newly built Downtown Anaheim Community Center (DACC). Since then, the Anaheim Senior Citizens Club has occupied space at the DACC for use as its administrative and programming headquarters in the senior wing portion of the community center building.
To this day, the ASCC continues to partner with the city to provide activities for seniors at the DACC but has expanded over the last ten years to also sponsor activities at the Downtown Anaheim Youth Center (1998), Brookhurst Community Center (2008), and at the East Anaheim Community Center and Gymnasium (2016). ASCC works jointly with city staff to coordinate senior activities focused on health and wellness, social and supportive services, fitness and recreation, education, and nutrition as well as providing information about available resources and transportation options.
This new License & Facilities Use Agreement with the ASCC has a term of ten years with five one-year renewal options, as approved by the Community Services Director. The ASCC will continue to support activities not only at the aforementioned facilities but will License and Facilities Use Agreement – Anaheim Senior Citizens Club, Inc.
