Acceptance of Bid for Engineered Wood Fiber (Playground Chips) November 7, 2023
The bid was based on an estimated annual requirement for 4,900 cubic yards of engineered wood fiber for the various playground areas throughout the City of Anaheim.
The playground chips will provide a surface that is springy enough to help cushion falls and firm enough to support mobility devices. Also, rainwater passes through these chips quickly, which allows children to play on them shortly after it rains. These chips have been tested and certified to be non-toxic; non-flammable; free of nails, trash, twigs, and other organic materials; and in compliance with ATSM standards for fall impact and surface maneuverability for mobility devices.
The initial term of the agreement will be for a one-year period with up to four one-year optional renewals. Pricing is fixed for the initial one-year base period and will be negotiated each year but may not exceed the change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Los Angeles, Long Beach-Anaheim areas for the preceding 12-month period.
There is no guaranteed or implied commitment to purchase a specific quantity for the duration of the agreement.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Sufficient funds are available in the Community Services Department’s Fiscal Year 2023/24 General Fund Budget. Funding for subsequent years will be subject to Council approval of budget appropriations.
Respectfully submitted, Concurred by,
John Vasquez Sjany Larson-Cash
Assistant Purchasing Agent Director of Community Services
