After meeting with the community a master plan was completed and Schmidt Design Group was hired to incorporate the desired amenities in the design. They received a federal grant as well as Rivers & Mountains Conservancy state funding. Phase 1, the children’s playground, is currently being constructed in conjunction with KABOOM! and Phase 2 will include a loop walkway, a shaded plaza, a skate park, basketball court, challenge course for youth and adults, and a butterfly garden for a nature component. Ms. Straabe answered questions from commissioners about the project and commissioners voiced concerns about the homeless population.
