CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
City of Anaheim

FINANCE DEPARTMENT
DATE: NOVEMBER 28, 2023
FROM: FINANCE DEPARTMENT
SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF BID FOR STACKING CHAIR CARRIERS

FOR THE ANAHEIM CONVENTION CENTER
ATTACHMENT (Y/N): NO ITEM # 16
GOVERNMENT CODE § 84308 APPLIES: NO
RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council, by Motion, accept the bid from Innovative Systems, in the amount of $113,880 plus applicable tax, for the purchase of stacking chair carriers for the Anaheim Convention Center and authorize the Purchasing Agent to issue a purchase order, all in accordance with Bid # 9723.

DISCUSSION
Purchasing solicited bids from known suppliers and posted the bid on the City’s bid portal. Sealed bids were received by 2:00 p.m., October 26, 2023, from the following bidders, and were publicly opened immediately thereafter.

Bidders Bid Price Innovative Systems $113,880
Compton, California
Virco, Inc. $384,000
Torrance, California
Swedlows Distributors, Inc. $386,928
Montclair, California
Vicon Enterprise, Inc. $720,000
Anaheim, California

The bid was based on the purchase of 120 stacking chair carriers and required that the carriers be welded metal construction, stackable up to 3 three high while fully loaded, and have swivel casters. The Convention Center has over 20,000 chairs on campus, the carriers will facilitate fast forklift transportation between halls and meeting rooms, serve as storage units, and help maximize space by reducing storage footprint. Innovative Systems offered the most competitive overall pricing and therefore staff recommends awarding accordingly.
