CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
City of Anaheim

FINANCE DEPARTMENT
DATE: JANUARY 9, 2024
FROM: FINANCE DEPARTMENT
SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF PROPOSAL FOR CO2 SENSORS AND

INSTALLATION AT THE ANAHEIM CONVENTION CENTER
ATTACHMENT (Y/N): NO ITEM # 04
GOVERNMENT CODE § 84308 APPLIES: YES
RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council, by Motion, waive the sealed bid requirement of Council Policy

4.0 and authorize the Purchasing Agent, or their designee, to issue a master agreement to Siemens Industry, Inc., in the amount of $94,329.59 plus a 15% contingency, to provide and install CO2 sensors at the Anaheim Convention Center (ACC) in accordance with the terms of Sourcewell Cooperative Agreement #030421-SIE.

DISCUSSION:

The Public Works Department, Construction Services Division, is tasked with overseeing an HVAC system improvement project at the ACC. The project requires the purchase of CO2 sensors, installation, and integration into the existing infrastructure.

The CO2 sensors will be used to ensure optimal air quality in the exhibit spaces and smaller breakout rooms provided by the ACC. Additionally, the sensors will provide real-time air quality data readings to the software controlling the mechanical equipment.

This will enhance the HVAC system’s efficiency by enabling it to respond promptly to the slightest change in air quality.

By obtaining the CO2 sensors and services through the use of Sourcewell's cooperative agreement with Siemens Industry, the city benefits from significant cost savings and allows direct collaboration with the manufacturer of the existing system.

The 15% contingency is recommended to provide the ability to address any unforeseen service requirements that may arise for this project.

IMPACT ON BUDGET:

Sufficient funds are available in the Convention Center’s Fiscal Year 2023/24 budget.

Approve the Issuance of an Agreement for CO2 Sensors and Installation at the Anaheim Convention Center January 9, 2024
