APPROVE PLANS AND DESIGNS OF CONSTRUCTION

RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, by Resolution, authorize the City Engineer to approve plans and designs of construction, or an improvement to, public property or to approve standards for such construction or improvement and rescind Resolution No. 2007-017.
DISCUSSION:
City Council Resolution No. 2007-017 provided the same authorization for the City Engineer as this recommended Resolution; however, it specifically named the City Engineer who has since left the position, requiring this update. This Resolution is revised to authorize the current and future City Engineer as appointed by the Director of Public Works to approve plans and designs of construction, or an improvement to, public property or to approve standards for such construction or improvement, eliminating the need for future Resolution updates.
Adoption of this Resolution complies with Section 830.6 of the California Government Code to provide the City of Anaheim immunity from certain liability related to the approval of plans or designs when such plans or designs have been approved by an employee when given such authority by the City Council.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
There is no budgetary impact.
