SUBJECT: RATIFY PURCHASE OF AN AMBULANCE CHASSIS AND
EMERGENCY REPAIR OF A WRECKED AMBULANCE

RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, by Motion, waive the sealed bid requirement of Council Policy
4.0 and ratify the purchase order issued to Republic EVS, LLC, Huntington Beach, California, in the amount of $132,562.64 plus applicable tax, for the replacement purchase of a chassis and emergency repair services to repair a damaged ambulance for Anaheim Fire and Rescue.
DISCUSSION:
On or about September 5, 2023, an ambulance was involved in a traffic collision while responding to a call. The unit sustained significant damage to the chassis, and it was determined that the ambulance module could be salvaged. Republic EVS had a replacement chassis at their site that could be utilized to remount our module negating the need to purchase a whole completely new ambulance. Our unit was taken to Republic EVS and shipped to Texas where the manufacturing plant is located. The module was removed, placed on the new chassis, and returned to Republic EVS for final outfitting.
The chassis was purchased using the HGAC cooperative AM10-23 wherein the City is getting a 10% discount off the manufacturer's retail price.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Sufficient funds are available in the Public Works Department’s Fleet Maintenance Fund FY 2023/24 budget.
