RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, by Motion, accept an award of $30,000 from the County of Orange; approve Contract MA-012-24010269 by and between the County of Orange on behalf of OC Community Resources, Workforce & Economic Development Division and the City of Anaheim for the provision of Regional Workforce Consulting Services for a term ending June 30, 2024; authorize the Director of Housing and Community Development, or her designee, to execute and administer the Agreement and any future modifications on behalf of the City; and increase the Housing and Community Development Department’s FY 2023/24 budget by $30,000.
DISCUSSION:
The City of Anaheim (City) is part of a Governor-designated Regional Planning Unit called the Orange Workforce Alliance (OWA). OWA is composed of the Workforce Development Boards of the City, City of Santa Ana, and County of Orange. OWA receives funding from the California Workforce Development Board to foster cooperation, coordination, and collaboration between and among the local workforce boards.
The Orange County Workforce Development Board (OCWDB) serves as the administrative and fiscal entity for the OWA. Each of the OWA members receives a proportional share of the OCWDB-awarded funds. The proportional share for Anaheim is $30,000. This funding will be used for staff time spent promoting regional collaboration, attending regional workforce development partner meetings, collaborating with the OCWDB to address identified needs and service gaps, as well as developing and facilitating regional strategies, policies and programs.

The Housing and Community Development Department’s Workforce Development Division Grant Funds FY 2023/24 budget will be increased by $30,000.
